§ 44.179. Special lighting equipment on school buses.

  • Every bus used for transportation of school children to and from school, in addition to any other equipment and distinctive markings required by state law shall be equipped with signal lamps mounted as high and as widely spaced laterally as practicable, which shall be capable of displaying to the front two alternately flashing yellow lights located at the same level, and to the rear two alternately flashing red lights located at the same level, and these lights shall have the sufficient intensity to be visible at 500 feet in normal sunlight. Such signal lamps shall be connected to the brake pedal by means of a toggle switch and shall be disconnected when pupils are not being transported to or from their homes.
