Article I. General Prohibitions |
§ 5.25. Sidewalk contractors.
(a)
License. No person shall engage in the business of repairing or constructing sidewalks in any public street or place in the City without a license as a cement contractor. The provisions of this Section shall not apply to any person desiring to lay a sidewalk in front of property owned by him.
(b)
Bond. Applicant for such license shall deposit with the City Clerk a surety company bond in the penal sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) to be approved by the City Council and conditioned to indemnify and save the City harmless from any liability, loss or damage resulting from the work undertaken or the manner of doing the same.
(c)
Maintenance and Repair of Sidewalks. A person licensed under this Section shall maintain and keep in repair all sidewalks constructed by him for a period of five years from the date of completion thereof, and failure to do so shall be sufficient cause for revocation of his license by the Mayor. No such requirement shall be made except as to repairs necessitated by faulty or improper materials, poor workmanship or failure to properly protect the sidewalk from damage by the elements.
